What is now known as the Clock Tower was built by Rucker & Whitten Plug Tobacco at the turn of the Century. Carolina's Cotton bought the plant in the 1930's. Sale Knitting, a spinoff of Pannill, which later became the Tultex Corp bought the site in 1957. Lester Development Co. aquired the property from Tultex in 2001.
